#NationalPollinatorWeek isn’t over yet! We’d like to take a moment to talk about one of our accomplishments in the pursuit of improving pollinator habitat:
The University of TN, Knoxville was certified as a Bee Campus, USA in March of 2020! To achieve this recognition, UTK has committed to developing a plan to include pollinator habitats on campus and hosting events and learning opportunities to increase awareness about the importance of pollinators. This is a collaborative effort with committee members from across the campus including UT’s Office of Sustainability, Landscape Services, UT Gardens, and the Department of Entomology & Plant Pathology.
Campus plantings include a garden in front of Fred D. Brown Jr. Hall and a monarch waystation at the UT Gardens – more sites and plantings are in the works!
